Dried coriander fruit, commonly mistaken for a seed, comes from the plant that gives us the fresh herb cilantro or coriander. Native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean, coriander has been known and used in India and China for thousands of years. Coriander is essential in Latin American, North African and Middle Eastern cooking as it is found in many classic spice mixes. Coriander seed has a refreshing, lemony or lime-like flavor and pairs beautifully with fish and pork dishes, as well as with fruit and sweets.
